LEGOs are awesome! Smartphones are awesome! Therefore, a LEGO smartphone must be awesome awesome!! This tutorial does not actually tell how to build a LEGO smartphone, but, instead tells you how to modify an existing smartphone case with LEGOs.

The purpose of this modification may not be immediately clear, but it definitely has a purpose. The point of this modification is to give LEGO fanatics everywhere the ability to have an immediate building surface.

I hope you enjoy this tutorial, and remember to post pictures of your version, comment, and help me improve my instructables! Have fun!

(I am not the first person to have thought of this idea. In fact, Belkin sells a similar case that is better quality and nicer looking, but a good deal more expensive.)

Materials

You'll need:

  • LEGO Blocks
  • All of the ones I used where twelve holes long and very thin. I used two dark grey, double-wide LEGOs. I also used one, single-wide, light grey LEGO. Lastly, I used two yellow, single-wide LEGO
  • Glue
  • You can use whatever kind of glue you like, as long as it bonds well with plastic and rubber.
  • A Cheap Smartphone Case (preferably rubber)
  • You can get one here.

Finding a Pattern

Find a pattern of LEGOs that will fit on the back of your case without covering any important holes(camera, microphone, light sensor, etc..). Take your time on this step because you will be stuck with whatever design you choose. Once you have found a design you'll need to connect all the joints, so that you can pick it up as one piece. The purpose of this exercise is to make sure all your holes are lined up.

Gluing Your LEGO Case

Brush/apply glue on the underside of the LEGOs, so as to connect the bricks. After that layer of glue has dried, apply another layer of glue and stick it firmly to your case. Make sure that it is lined up. Wait for this to dry, and remove your supportive LEGOs.

Enjoy!

This is the most important step! Be creative, and enjoy your LEGO case. The possibilities are endless!
