Laptop Keyboard Buttons - Reuse
An old useless laptop keyboard found its new purpose, specifically its buttons.
To cover holes in project boxes, or other casings.
I used an old modem as a project box (or project enclosure) and covered some of its holes with the buttons.
Supplies
- A useless laptop keyboard
- sandpaper fine (500 is enough)
- flat scredriver
- pliers
- drill
- nuts and bolts and washers (small)
- needle pliers (for the nuts and bolts)
- screwdriver (for the nuts and bolts)
- maybe CA glue
- Using a flat screwdriver as a lever, remove the laptop keyboard buttons one by one.
- Remove the marked letters on the button with sandpaper.
- Think how big is the area you want to cover, select appropriate button (maybe the spacebar?).
- Plan where you will place the screws or bolts.
- Drill the button and the project box with appropriate diameter (maybe 2mm or 2.5mm).
- Use nuts and bolts and washers to secure the button to the project box. Screwdriver and needle pliers help with this. Or maybe use CA glue.
I saved all the remaining buttons for similar or other use in the future.
