Laser Cut Snoopy-Themed Desktop Trash Bin Using Colored Plywood
Looking for a fun and practical way to spice up your desk? This Snoopy-themed mailbox-style desktop trash bin is laser cut from vibrant 3mm colored plywood (red, yellow, white, and black) and brings both charm and function to your workspace. It’s perfect as a cute desk organizer, Valentine's Day gift, or just a nostalgic DIY decor project for Peanuts fans!
Supplies
All materials used in this project are from the Creatorally 3mm colored plywood sheets – vibrant, durable, and perfect for laser cutting projects.
Materials Used:
- Red colored plywood (3mm thick) – ×2 sheets
- Black colored plywood (3mm) – ×1 sheet
- White, yellow, green, pink – used scrap pieces (great for recycling leftover plywood!)
️ Tip: Mixing full sheets and scrap pieces allows you to maximize material usage while keeping your project eco-friendly.

Prepare Your Colored Plywood Sheets
Start by selecting your sheets from the Creatorally 3mm colored plywood collection.
- For the mailbox body: use 2 red sheets
- For detailing: use black, white, yellow, and pink plywood (scraps are great!)
Tip: Make sure the plywood is flat and clean before placing it on your laser cutter bed.
Load the Mailbox Design File
Open your laser cutting software and import the DXF/SVG file we attached here. Adjust the scale if needed to match your plywood size.
We used a CO2 for this project, but any diode laser with a bed size of at least 12"x12" works great.
Laser Cut All the Parts
Carefully cut each layer of the mailbox, including:
- The rounded sides
- Front and back panels with slot and heart details
- Bottom base, small flag, and the door flap
- Additional small decorations (hearts, lettering, characters)
Use different power settings for clean vector cuts depending on the color coating thickness.
Assemble or Paint the Characters & Details
If you didn’t pre-color every detail with plywood, you can use markers or paint small elements like Snoopy, Woodstock, and decorative hearts.
I recommend using thin colored scrap plywood for these parts — no need to color small parts and glue!
Assemble the Mailbox Body
Using wood glue or super glue:
- Attach the bottom base to the curved side pieces
- Add the front and back panels
- Insert the small door with hinge detail
- Apply the mailbox flag and small front plate
Make sure everything is aligned before the glue dries!
Add Final Touches and Place on Desk!
Glue Snoopy lying on top, attach all decorative details, and you're done!
Now you have a functional, cute desk trash bin that also brings a nostalgic smile every time you use it!
