Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot
If you've ever missed your favorite outfit because it was stuck in your laundry chute then the Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot is for you! The Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot unclogs clogged clothes chutes.
Inspiration for the Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot? I participated in the Invention Convention and I d brainstorm a problem in my life and come up with a solution. It didn't take me long to to think about how frustrating it had been in the past when clothes got clogged in my chute pushing heavy objects down the chute until the clog gave way which would take a long time. I decided to find a way to easily and effectively unclog clothes chutes and my family uses the Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot to this day.
What I learned? During the process of brainstorming a solution to my problem and actually inventing the finished product ,I learned to always listen to the advice of others to help me perfect my idea. i also learned how research, outlines, patience, and hard work are necessary to take an idea and make it a reality.
Where I made it? I worked on the "scoot" at home.
How I made it? I made the scoot with a drill, a medium sized PVC pipe cap, polycord, large and small washers, large and small eye screws, a spring link, and a nut.
How easy to make? The Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot is pretty easy to make and the material needed to make it are affordable and can be bought at Home Depot or Lowe's.
Effectiveness? The "scoot' is very effective. In my home we use it every time there is a clog.

Step 2: Drilling the PVC Pipe Hole
In the very middle of the PVC pipe drill a hole.
Step 3: Screwing in Materials Onto the PVC Pipe
After drilling the hole in the top of the PVC pipe, you will screw in your eye screw through the hole in the top of the PVC pipe. At the bottom of the eye screw screw in a washer and a nut to secure the eye screw.
Step 2: Screwing Small Eyescrew Into the Top of Laundry Chute
First you will need to drill a hole into the mouth of your laundry shoot big enough to screw in the small eye screw, and then screw in the eye screw. Then tie the spring link to one end of the polycord. On the other end of the polycord tie on the large washer. The spring link will be clipped onto this eye screw when the Laundry Chute Clothes Scoot is not in use with the spring link clipped on to the eye screw at the mouth of the chute and the other end of the polycord with the large washer attached will dangle out the end of the chute.
*Note: Place the polycord into the chute with the spring link attached to the small eye screw at the mouth of the chute and the end of the polycord with the large washer dangling out the end of the chute BEFORE the chute is clogged so it will be effective when a clog occurs.

Step 5: Attach Springlink to Eyescrew on PVC Pipe
Detach the the spring link from the small eye screw at the mouth of the clothes chute when a clog has occurred. Clip the spring link onto the eye screw of the PVC pipe cap.
Step 4: Place the "scoot" in the Chute
Simply place the "scoot" in the laundry chute, then go to the end of the laundry chute where the large washer attached to the end of the the polycord is dangling out the end of the chute.
Step 7: Grab Ahold to the Large Washer and Pull
Pull the "scoot" until the clog comes out the end of the chute.
Step 8: Retrieve Clothing, Reset Up Scoot, and Breath Easy!
After you have successfully unclogged your shoot, unclip the spring link from the PVC cap and store the PVC cap elsewhere until the next clog. Clip the spring link back onto the small eye screw at the mouth of the chute, and let the end of the polycord fall down the shoot and dangle out the end of the chute so the "scoot" will be ready for a future clog.
