Lemon Still Life

This is an oil painting I've just completed, I wish I had taken more pictures of the process, but I didn't think about publishing it until after I completed it. Anyhow, the process went a little like this....
First I made a rough "sketch" of the whole picture using and orangey color (half purple half yellow) then I added a bit more purple (to darken the orangey color) and added the darks (shadows). After that when it was dry I began to add some color, I started with the darkest, the background,and then worked my way up. Once it was pretty much completed my teacher decided that I could probably make it look a little more life like so he gave me some blue to make the aluminum block look like an aluminum block. I also touched up the lemon a bit, adding some more high lights and making it look a little more pimply.
