Make Your Own Brick Mold: DIY Tutorial
The objective is to make the most simple brick mold, that can be re used and also can be simple on it's own planning and construction stages.
Supplies
I use a simple material that here is known a "foamy". It´s flexible, easy to cut and in some ways very durable. Also: a ruler, a glue gun, a drill and a cutting blade or "bisturi" to split the sections.
And of course we have here the plaster intended to make the mix base for the bricks. I measure half a cup of water and four spoons of plaster (I even try adding some red paint to add some color).
The first step is to find out what it is the size of the bricks we want to make, mine will be roughly 0.5'' Inch Tall, 1'' Wide and 0.5'' Deep. Based on that I will cut out a segment that can mold approx 40 bricks at once.
Here I end up cutting a base segment of 6.5'' Inches Long by 3.5'' Wide.
I started cutting out the base and the laterals to create sort of a "flat cube" that will contain the material for the bricks.
Next I cut the pieces that will split columns and rows. The vertical are the longest ones and the horizontal are just small segments of the foamy who will split each brick.
The stills of the planning stage were made on a 3D software just to give me an idea on how the final product would look like at the end.
Here we can see one of the columns totally divided. By the way I decided to make the final row a little less wider because we will need small bricks to create a full wall.
And this is the final product, a brick mold that can be washed and reused as many times as you needed.
