Making People React Faster
Making people react faster with adrenaline is a great biological experiment and way to show how our bodies can change depending on the situation. ⚠️ you will need written consent from parents and students to do this project you also cannot do this with someone if they have any heart issues ⚠️
Supplies
- reaction timer (can find one online the image above shows what I used)
- 5 people
- something to shock (Nothing with a lethal voltage and keep a low amperage) or scare people
- note pad
- calculator
Get Reaction Times
have each person do a reaction timer test 5 times each and write down every result for every person
calculate an average for each person this can be done by adding all of a persons reaction times together and dividing by 5
calculate a group average can be done by adding everyone's average and dividing by 5
keep all of this information
Get the Adrenaline Pumping
There are many ways you can do this the one I used was shocking people with electricity but this can also be done by scaring people and having them work really hard physically.
(Adrenaline also known as epinephrine is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that is used to trigger the body’s fight-or-flight which is response to stress or danger. Shocking people could fall under both as it may hurt making your brain think danger stress or both, however scaring people would make their brain think danger, and working hard is just putting stress on the body.
Get Reaction Times Again
shock a person 3 times have them take 1 reaction timer test again then shock them another 3 times before having them take it again repeat this until that person has taken the test 5 times and repeat this for every person while collecting the same data as last time
Analyze Data
the image above shows the data I gathered from this experiment.
