Maple Flavored Hard Candies
I made these out of a cookbook my dad had, but altered the recipe, originally you would mix sugar, water, and flavoring into a bowl and freeze it in molds, I didn’t have any flavorings like vanilla extract, so I assumed maple syrup would be fine, well, I was wrong, but I came up with something else, in my opinion better, tastier, and healthier, but most of all, enjoyable.
Supplies
Ingredients
- Maple syrup (grade A dark, for flavor, and 100% pure for healthiness)
Tools
- Stovetop
- Mixing tool
- Bowl with water +ice
- Cooking pot
- Molds
Boil
Pour about how much you want (I did 1 cup) and bring to a boil.
Tip
How do you test if it’s ready? Fill a bowl with ace cold water and drop a bit of the boiled syrup in, if it’s flexible, it’s almost ready, if it’s hard, and crackable, it is ready, and if it’s soft and sticky, it needs more time
Pour
Quickly remove syrup and pour into molds. Leave at room temperature until it’s hard. Remember to turn off heat, if it drys to quickly, DO NOT TRY TO REHEAT WITH STOVE you can reheat it with the microwave, but the stove will burn it.
Enjoy!
Store in a cool, dry place, expiration date should be about the same as you syrup bottle says, I sell my candies at the farmers market, because I make the syrup myself. It’s nice because you already have the nutrition facts if your customers want it.
