- Card Board
- Duct Tape
- Hot Bond
- Scissors
- Cutter
- Dryer
Preparation
Before we start, let's get ready! Wash the inside of the milk cartons thoroughly and let them dry completely. We'll need 11 cartons for this project.
Cut and Shape the Cartons
Now, let's cut open the milk cartons. Follow the instructions in this link to see how it's done.
Once they're open, remove the top and bottom parts. We'll end up with 9 large pieces (each with 4 sides) and 3 smaller pieces (each with 2 sides).
Paste Cut Parts
Now, let’s turn these flat pieces into triangular shapes. Fold each piece along the existing fold lines to form a triangular prism. Secure the folds with masking tape. Make sure the tape is pressed firmly so the shapes stay in place. You'll need to make 9 of these triangular shapes.
Assemble the Parts
Let's start building the base of our chair! Take three of the triangular shapes and 1 smaller pieces, and connect them together by taping the edges. Make sure the triangles are facing the same direction. Repeat this step two more times so you have three identical bases.
Reinforcement With Cardboard
Now, let's make the seat and bottom of our chair. Using the base as a template, trace the shape onto a piece of cardboard. Cut out the traced shape. You'll need four of these cardboard pieces. Using a hot glue gun, attach these cardboard pieces to the top and bottom of the chair base. For extra strength, you can add a few more pieces of cardboard to the seat.
Almost there! Now, let's put the two base parts together to form the chair. Align the edges of the two bases and secure them with tape. Make sure the chair is sturdy before moving on to the next step.
Finish
Now, it’s time to make your chair unique! You can paint it your favorite color, cover it with fabric, or add stickers. Get creative and make it your own!
Your new milk carton chair is ready to use! Remember, it's made from recycled materials, so treat it gently. Avoid putting too much weight on it and keep it away from sharp objects.
