Introduction (Relation to physics):

The physical aspect of shooting a free throw includes distance and deviation. The distance is determined by two factors: the angle and speed of start. Players have a choice between aiming for a greater target by using more arc or opting for a shooter's touch and aiming with their perfect height arc. Players should figure out what works best for them since this will differ depending on each player.

Launching speed is determined by the amount of force you apply to bring the ball to the target. Launch angle is simply the angle at which you start the basketball in the direction of the basket. Your distance from the target and the release height of your shot decide the perfect starting angle for a slow-moving ball at the rim.

We can apply Newton’s third law of Motion which is with every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The speed of your wrist, arm, and legs as you release the ball is dictated by how much force you applied. Your distance from the basket defines the amount of force. The more you push off the ground, the stronger you leap and the more strength you can add to the ball. For longer shots, more force is required.

How to Play?

- Each player will be given 1 trial for every round. The players will be taking turns making their shot.

- If a player shoots the ball into the cup, the score labeled on the cup will be recorded under the player’s name, then the ball will be removed from the cup to make space. If a player missed a shot, he/she will get to try again in the next round. The next player will be attempting his/her shot.

- All players must have attempted their shot once for each round.

- When all rounds are over, the player with the most score is the winner.
