Mini Heart Pocket Pies
Cheap, easy and great for last minute Valentine's dessert that will still impress!
What You Need:
- Sugar (Chunky if you can get it. I didn't have time, so I used the regular stuff.)
- Canned Pie filling (You could make your own but I'm lazy.)
- Flour
- Store Bought Pie Crust (Again could make your own but why do that when you can buy it lol)
- Egg wash (I used one egg with a bit of milk.)
- Heart shaped cookie cutter
- Pastry brush
Other stuff not shown:
- cookie sheet
- rolling pin
- fork

Getting Started
Preheat your oven to 350 C.
Flour your counter, unrolled your pie crust on top. Now mine was already shaped like this and the perfect thickness but you may have to roll yours out if yours isn't like mine.
Start cutting out hearts! I cut all the hearts I would need just to make life easier later on. When you get all the scraps, just squish them together and roll them out. I got enough for 6 pocket pies (12 hearts in total) out of one pie crust.

Fill My Heart With Goodness
Egg wash the sides of half the hearts and place a small amount of pie filling in the center of each. Try not to get pie filling on the edges or the top heart crust won't stick as well. As you can see, I did on a few and you'll see later that I was right on the sticking part.
Lock Up Your Hearts
Put another heart piece on top. Use your fork to press down the edges to lock them together. Brush egg wash over the top and top with a sprinkle of sugar. The chunky sugar would look more impressive. Poke holes in the middle with your fork to let steam out while cooking.
Bake Em'!
Put them in for 10-15 minutes (depending on your oven) then let cool.
See what I mean by busting? Once I took them off the sheet you couldn't tell that happened, so it'll be our secret. :)
Enjoy! Cute and easy.
