Finish upgrading the old mobile payment terminal. It's now a data storage and an important tool.

I managed to buy an old payment terminal. The cost of the terminal, along with two monitors and a computer, was $28.

Disassemble and Wash

I removed all the stuffing from the terminal, cut holes to install decorative lighting and made new electrical wiring.

Electrical Installation

The terminal is equipped with several power supplies to supply power to the backlight, heater, computer and audio amplifier.

Installing Shelves

I finished installing the lighting and electrical wiring. I installed a heater to keep the terminal warm in the winter and added an automatic fire suppression system. I installed a door lock and a new computer. It's a mini-PC with 8GB of RAM, a 120GB SSD, and an additional 2TB external hard drive. An amplifier for the speakers and two stereo speakers were installed. The case was given several coats of matte black paint.

Painting and Electrical Connection

Seven shelves were installed inside the terminal. The shelves slide along guides. Important equipment is stored on the shelves: voltmeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, testers, and so on. The Windows 7 operating system was installed, and over 1 TB of data was copied, including manuals, documentation for electronic components, movies, and music. An internet connection was installed. The ventilation openings are covered with valves, two fans are installed for cooling, and a thermal relay monitors the temperature inside the terminal. The computer can control the temperature via a relay based on the ESP32 chip.

The Finished Result

Вторая жизнь старого терминала.

The terminal is used to store valuable information for work in the workshop. The interior is used for storing tools, which need to be properly stored. The workshop can be chilly. To prevent the tools from being damaged by cold and moisture, I used a built-in heater, and in the summer, fans maintain an optimal temperature inside.
