How to build a pc step by step

Supplies

tools you will need: Pre build

  1. anti static mat
  2. screw driver
  3. anti static wristband
  4. thermal paste

step 1: Antistatic

  1. put pc on a antistatic mat
  2. put antistatic wrist band on and make sure its grounded to the pc
  3. undo front panel screws
  4. take front panel off the PC case

step 2: CPU

  1. match up the gold corner of the CPU to indented triangle on the CPU seat
  2. seat the CPU properly
  3. apply a pea sized amount of thermal paste to the CPU
  4. put the heat sink onto the CPU and make sure it is on

step 3: Motherboard

  1. Put the RAM into the ram slot
  2. Put the motherboard on the standoff in the PC case
  3. Line up the stand off holes with the standoffs
  4. Screw the motherboard into in standoffs

step 4: power supply

  1. Put the power supply into the PSU holding and screw it in
  2. Line the cords up through the holes (if the PSU is enclosed from the rest of the PC)

step 5: connecting everything

  1. Connect the 20x24 and the 4x6
  2. Plug the front panel connectors and the speaker in
  3. Connect the CPU fan
  4. Connect the hard drive with the SATA

step 6: Front panel

  1. Put the front panel back and make sure to screw it in

step 7: Pre test

  1. After making sure everything is seated properly and the case is closed up plug your computer into a monitor with a DVI cord
  2. Plug your power supply unit into the wall using a generic black cord

step 8: Testing (post)

  1. After everything is plugged in turn the monitor on
  2. Make sure your psu is on the right regional setting
  3. Turn the rocker switch on the power supply to on (1)
  4. Turn on you computer

(if the computer posts then have successfully built a PC)

step 9: PC didnt post

  1. Use the trouble shooting steps to figure out the problem
