Paper Airplane

IMG_9060.jpeg

Have you ever wanted to make something cool out of a simple piece of paper? In this Instructable, I will show you how to fold a piece of paper into a small paper airplane. This project is simple and only requires a few materials, making it something that can be done almost anywhere.

I created this guide so that each step is easy to follow, even if you have never made something like this before. The pictures are included to show exactly how the paper should look at each stage. By the end, you will have your own paper airplane that you can throw around or use as a decoration.

Supplies

What you will need:

  1. 1 square piece of paper
  2. A flat surface to work on
  3. Your hands!

Start With the Paper

Place the sheet of paper in front of you to begin.

First Diagonal Folds

Take one top corner and fold diagonally so that it goes to a point. There will be about 1.5 inches of paper left under the fold. Repeat with opposite corner at the top of the paper.

3/4 Horizontal Fold

Take the top of the paper and fold it down so that the creases line up with each other and leave about 1.5 inches of paper on the bottom similar to the previous step.

Unfold and Flip

After creasing, unfold the paper and flip it onto its other side.

Pinch and Fold

This step can look slightly confusing at first, but focus is the key! You will start by pressing a finger in the middle of the 'X' that is formed by the previous folds. You will then grab on either side and pinch it together like the third photo. You will bring that pinched portion toward the bottom while flattening the rounded part on itself. After completing, it should look like the final photo.

Diagonal Wing Fold

This is where you start forming the shape of the wings. After the previous step, you will have some flaps on either side. You will grab one flap and fold it over to the other side so that you can get to the back of the paper. You will then fold that end diagonally into a wing shape like the last picture.

Repeat for the other side, then flip over and finish should look like the last picture.

Take the tip of the nose and fold down and leave about an inch of space.
