Paper Bridge

bridges are a great display of architecture as they use physics and design just to create these.

A paper bridge is a great example of this as it uses a usually flimsy object to create a structure that can hold a lot more that it usually would be able to.

Supplies

for this engineering project you will need

  1. printer paper
  2. 2 equal height objects
  3. an object about as heavy as a phone (I suggest using a remote or calculator)

Example

20251228_191530.jpg

set a piece of paper across the 2 equal height objects and put the remote on the paper it should look like the image

you will see that the remote falls when you let go

Making the Bridge

fold the piece of paper on each edge at least 3 times where the edges look like triangles

now the paper should be able to hold the remote

More Folds the Better

for this next design fold the paper to look like the image

Decorate or Improve

paint, add on more to make stronger, do whatever you want to make your bridge look better or stronger.
