Parasol Base

This is a parasol base without the problem of the water. The metal tube as no bottom so the rain water doesn't stay inside. The size and the weight give a good stability for a 3m parasol.

Supplies

Matériels :

  1. a metal angle bar 2m x 50 x 50 m, thin 4mm
  2. a steel flat bar 2m x 30mm, thin 5 mm
  3. a metal tube 40 cm 1"
  4. ciment, mortar
  5. old ceramic tiles.
  6. metal paint

Welding equipment

  1. Welding machine
  2. Chipping hammer
  3. Wire brush

Tools

  1. Angle grinder
  2. spirit level
  3. Metal cutting disc
  4. Grinding disc
  5. Measuring tape
  6. Permanent marker

Safety equipment

  1. Welding helmet
  2. Leather welding gloves
  3. Safety glasses
  4. Hearing protection
  5. Welding apron
  6. Cotton clothing

Base

the base is made with 4 x 50 cm of angled metal bar. Each corner is cut at 45°. Make a solder point to hold them in place.

Montant

Preparing the flat bars. Cut 4 flat metal bars of 50 cm. Before bending, use the grinder to make an incision 4 cm from the edge.

Assemble the bars and make some weld point.

Place the tube 20 cm from the ground. Make weld points on the tube. Check the position

Perform the welding. if your welds are not nice, on the base, the weld will be inside the mortar. On the top of the flat metal, weld underneath the top of the flat bar.

Paint

Paint it.

Mortar

Fill the base with mortar and glue pieces of ceramic tile at the same time. Make the joints with cement.

Il is possible to add a 3D part to jadust the diameter.
