Pencil in a Lip Balm Container Life Hack

One day, I realized throwing away small pencils and empty lip balm containers was a mistake- so I combined the two together to create the first ever pencil in a lip balm container!

Enjoy reading, and don't forget to check out my other Instructables! :)

Supplies

You'll need:

  1. A lip balm container
  2. A pencil
  3. A ruler
  4. Tissues
  5. Q-tips
  6. Pencil sharpener
  7. Water and soap

Disassembling the Container

Take off the cap and place it to the side. Using a tissue, wipe off all the lip balm you can (shown above). Now pull out the screw mechanism and the turning wheel. This takes some finger work to pull out, so you may have to use a tool like a knife or screwdriver to get this piece out.

Cleaning the Turning Wheel

Now, using a Q-tip, firmly push it into the turning wheel and spin it around. I suggest removing some of the cotton on the Q-tip so it will be easier to push down into the wheel. Once most of the excess lip balm is removed, wash the wheel thoroughly and repeat the Q-tip process until clean.

Pencil Sharpening and Finishing

Go ahead and take your pencil and pencil sharpener, and sharpen your pencil to 3.5 inches. You can also sharpen it down to 2.5 inches, and use your turning wheel (shown above) to prevent the pencil from sliding back into the container when you write. This is what I'll be doing.

Take your empty lip balm container and slide the pencil in. If your pencil is 2.5 inches, you can now take your turning wheel and insert it behind the pencil eraser. Close the cap, and test it out!
