Phone and App

You will be using the iPhone 7 to use the app YouTube. This is a step by step guide to tell you how to use the phone and the app.

With an iPhone 7, the power button will be located on the right side of the phone with the screen facing toward you. The screen side is the side without the apple in the middle. Once turned on, the screen will light up.

When you see the screen light up, that's how you know the phone is on. This is the lock screen, it only shows the time and any notifications you may have. To get from the lock screen tot the home screen, you must press the home button. The home button is a circular button located just below the screen, once you press it you will be brought to the home screen.

Because YouTube isn't a stock app, you will need to download it off the app store. To get there, look for the little square that has an "A" on it. Underneath it will read app store. Simply tap on it to open it

In the bottom right corner it will say search. Tap that then go to the top of the screen and press the search bar. Once you do that a keyboard will appear. Type in YouTube and hit search.

Once you find YouTube, tap on the "get" button and wait until it says open.

If you stayed in the app store then all you need to do is tap "open". If you went somewhere else in the app store, go back to search and type in YouTube again and tap open. If you hit the home button, look for the square with the YouTube logo and tap on it.

When you enter the app, look to the top right corner. There will be a blue square that says "sign in". A screen will come up that has your google account. Tap that and it will bring you back to the homepage of YouTube, except this time in the top there will be an icon. That means that you are signed into your account.

The way you see videos will appear vertically like in the picture. To watch a video, you can tap either the picture, aka thumbnail, or the title.

When you first tap on a video, it will play only on top of the screen. To get it to go full screen you can tilt your phone horizontal, and the video will go into full screen mode.

To get out of full screen tilt your screen back vertically.

To pause a video, tap the screen and two lines will appear in the middle of the screen. Tap the two lines and they will turn into a a triangle facing to the right and the video will pause.

The process is the same as pausing a video, except you tap the triangle and the video will resume.

To fast forward across many minutes, tap the screen and go to the bottom of the screen, click and drag the red bar to the right. To fast forward only thirty to forty seconds, double tap the right side of the screen.

This is the same process as fast forwarding, except instead of sliding or tapping to the right, you're doing to the left.

While on a video, make sure you are out of full screen mode and tap the thumbs up button that is below the title.

Disliking videos is the same process as liking them, you only need to press the thumbs down button.

To subscribe to channels, click on a video by them and look for the red "subscribe" and tap on it.

When you are at the home page, look at the bottom of the screen for the box that says subscriptions.

If the phone just shuts off, the battery may have died. Locate a charger and plug it into the phone and wait for it to turn on.

If you can't get connection, hit the home button, go to settings, and see if you are connected to internet.
