I’ve always liked the idea of taking old things that might normally be thrown away and giving them a new purpose. For this project, I decided to turn some old materials and unused parts into a portable homemade fruit blender.

Instead of letting these materials go to waste, I brought them together and built something that is not only functional but also looks neat and unique. I also added my own design using the same tarpaulin material on different parts of the blender to make everything match.

This project was all about creativity, reuse, and making something useful from things I already had. I enjoyed the process of turning these old materials into a working fruit

blender, and I’m happy with how the final result came out.

• First, I got an old pen container that I planned to reuse as the blender cup.

• I checked the container to make sure it had a suitable size, shape, and strong material for the blender.

• I chose one that would be easy to modify and attach to the rest of the blender.

WASHING AND CLEANING THE PLASTIC CONTAINER THOROUGHLY

• After choosing the pen container, I washed it thoroughly with detergent and clean water.

• While washing it, I also removed the sticker that came with the container.

• I scrubbed the inside and outside properly to remove any dirt or residue.

• After washing it, I rinsed it well and allowed it to dry before moving to the next step.

MAKING a HOLE TO INSERT THE MOTOR SHAFT

• In this step, I made the hole where the motor shaft will pass through so the blade can be attached.

• First, I used a pencil and ruler to draw a cross on the bottom of the plastic container.

• I then measured and marked half an inch along both lines of the cross to indicate the points where the holes would be made.

• Using a soldering iron carefully, I made the holes at the marked points so the motor shaft could be inserted through the bottom of the container.

• First, check the hole in the plastic container to make sure it is the perfect size for the motor shaft. This helps prevent liquid from leaking into the motor.

• Apply super glue to the part of the motor that will connect to the container.

• Carefully place the motor into the hole, making sure the shaft goes inside the container and the motor sits firmly in position.

• Press and hold the motor against the container so the super glue can bond properly and keep the motor from moving away.

• Allow the glue to dry completely, making the motor firm and securely attached to the container.

MAKING THE MOTOR COVER WITH ALUMINIUM SHEET AND TARPAULIN

• First, measure and mark the aluminum sheet to 5¾ inches by 1 foot.

• Cut the aluminum sheet along the marked measurements to make the cover for the plastic container where the motor is attached.

• Wrap the aluminum sheet with tarpaulin to give it a neat and attractive appearance.

• Carefully fold the covered aluminum around the container, making sure it covers the motor underneath so the motor cannot be seen.

• We are going to add tarpaulin to the cover later so it matches the design of the rest of the project.

• Make sure the cover fits properly around the container and looks neat when everything is assembled.

• Take the round motor cover, which was made by bending the aluminum around the plastic container to form a cylinder.

• Place the motor cover on the aluminum sheet and use it as a template to mark a circle on the sheet.

• Remove the motor cover and carefully cut out the marked circle using scissors.

• This round aluminum piece will be used as the under cover to cover the bottom of the blender.

WIRING THE MOTOR

• Take an old USB cable and carefully cut off the connector end using scissors.

• Prepare the cable so that the power wires can be identified. For this part, make sure the cable is completely disconnected from any power source.

• With adult supervision, connect the appropriate USB power wires to the motor according to the motor’s specifications. Take care not to allow the wires to touch each other or create a short circuit.

• Route the cable through an opening at the bottom of the motor cover so that it comes out neatly underneath the blender.

• Check that the connection is secure and insulated before connecting the cable to a power source.

COVERING THE PLASTIC CONTAINER COVER WITH TARPAULIN

• I used the tarpaulin to cover the side of the blender cover.

• I measured and cut the tarpaulin to fit the side of the cover properly.

• I then attached the tarpaulin to the cover using super glue, making sure it was firmly fixed and neatly fitted.

• This was done to make the blender cover match the design of the motor cover and keep the whole project looking consistent.

MAKING THE BLADES

• I used a small piece of aluminum roofing sheet, the same type of aluminum sheet commonly used for roofing houses.

• I first measured and marked 8 cm on the aluminum sheet. 8cm measurement was used to determine the length of the blade pieces.

• After marking the 8cm section, I carefully cut along the mark to get the aluminum pieces for the blades.

• I shaped the cut aluminum pieces into small blades, making sure they were suitable for attaching to the rotating part of the motor.

• I then took the small super glue cover that would fit onto the motor shaft and positioned the aluminum blades around it.

• I applied super glue around the areas where the blades meet the cover and held them firmly in place until the glue bonded.

• After the blades were securely attached, I fitted the super glue cover onto the motor shaft. This allows the motor shaft to rotate the blades when the motor is powered.

• I checked the blade assembly to make sure its was firmly attached and able to rotate without getting stuck.
