Puffed Rice or Murmura Namkeen

It is made easily and with very less oil. It is very tasty, It can be eaten anytime with tea or coffee :)

1 Cup Peanuts

To make puffed rice or murmura namkeen, the first thing that needs to be done is to roast the peanuts. Heat the oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add roasted peanuts to it. Keep stirring till the colour changes to brown. Roast it on medium flame. Once the peanuts are brown in colour and give a good fragrance, remove from the pan and put it in a bowl.

Asafetida: 1 Pinch, Salt: 1 Small Spoon or As Per Taste, Red Chilly Powder: 1/2 Spoon, Black Pepper: 1/2 Spoon, Mango Powder: 1/2 Spoon

Now we will prepare a masala. We will grind black pepper, asafetida, red chilly powder, mango powder and salt.

Curry Leaves: 10-12, Oil: 4 Tablespoon

Now roast the curry leaves as well in the remaining oil.

Murmura or Puffed Rice: 4 Cups

Turn the stove on low flame and add murmura or puffed rice to the pan. Keep stirring and add the masala. now add the peanuts to it. Keep stirring for 2-3 minutes on low flame so that everything is mixed. Keep stirring so that the puffed rice or murmura does not burn. Murmura namkeen or puffed rice is now ready. Keep it in the bowl for 2-3 hours and let it cool.

You can store the namkeen in a container. It can be stored upto 2 months..Enjoy :)
