Quick and Easy Jambalaya
Jumbalaya is a simple and beloved dish from the heart of Cajun Louisiana. The meal combines bold and spicy flavors over dirty rice typically mixed with Shrimp or Sausage and delicious vegetables. The course is flexible, and made from on-hand ingredients to create a savory dinner for you and your family.
Supplies
- Standard Chef's Knife
- Cutting Board
- Large Spoon for Mixing
- Medium-Sized Soup Pot
- 1/2 Medium-Sized White Onion
- 1/2 Cup Diced Tomatoes
- 1/2 Red Pepper
- 2 ~6 Inch Cooked Chicken Sausages
- Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix
- 2 3/4 Cups Water
Prepare
Prepare the dish using your cutting board & knife to dice the white onion, red pepper, and tomato (if not already diced). Cut the chicken sausage into ~1/4 inch rounds.
Add
Add the 2 3/4 cups of water to the pot and turn the stove to medium-low until a low rolling boil. Add the Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix.
After the 5 minutes add your vegetables: diced white onions, tomatoes, and red peppers. Stir occasionally while leaving the stove on medium-low for another 5 minutes.
Next, add the cut sausage and turn the heat to medium. Leave for 20-30 minutes or until rice is fully cooked and moist while stirring occasionally.
Serve
Spoon into individual plates or bowls and enjoy your meal!
