Rackmount Sennheiser and Shure Wireless Together in a Shared Rack Unit

Came up with this quick and dirty mount modification to connect a Sennheiser half unit with a Shure half unit. In this example I am using a Sennheiser g4 and a Shure slxd, though anything that uses these same mounting styles should work. (g3, g2, psm 300)

No parts other than what is supplied with your units. need a grinder or hack saw and a drill. file also handy.

I didn't take very good pictures but i still want to try to get this out to help someone else who will be trying this.

Remove the the rack ears from the inside face of both unit, we will be modifying only the Shure but you will need both off. you basically want to start out how they come out of the box.

Take your Shure rack ear, could be a short or a long doesn't matter (though I do have an old set of ears that sits the Shure out farther forward that wouldn't work as well.)

cut the ear off flush leaving as much material on the channel side as possible.

DISCLAIMER: I didn't take my measurements too serious, please make your own, mine don't sit perfectly flush.

Take your newly cut Shure bracket flip it backwards and set it back in place lining up the holes.

Take your Sennheiser bracket and mate it up forward flush with the front of the Shure, and tape them together.

Tape, zip tie, clamp, a friend, I used a vice, doesn't matter, use what you have.

Basically all you need to do is match the mounting holes form the Sennheiser bracket onto the Shure.

Drill the holes to match in the configuration shown, if you don't put your Shure bracket backward the Shure will be sticking farther forward in the rack.

you will need to counter sink the INSIDE of the Shure bracket, the face that touches the Shure unit.

I don't have one so I just used a larger drill bit and went slow till the Sennheiser screw sat flush in the hole.

Screw the modified Shure mount to the Sennheiser unit (it must be done in this order or you'll never get it screwed together.) then to the Shure unit.

Connect the outside ears (if necessary) and you are all done!

you can vaguely see in my blurry picture that since all my iem use a combiner, but my mic still needs front antennas I took the piece I cut off the Shure bracket to hold the left side antenna right above the mixer. when I had two Shure paired I just left both antennas on the ears, but the Sennheiser doesn't have the space.

I really hope this helps some people, I looked a lot in the past to find a way to do this, and then it just came to me!
