Rainbow Fan Snake

It was a rainy day of our summer vacation, not much to do outside but luckily, we had some basic craft supplies with us and made this Rainbow Fan Snake.
This is a super easy project that you can make even with young children. It's fun to make and fun to play with and you don't need much time to make the snake.
You can find more of my paper projects right here.
Supplies

- 5 sheets of color paper + a little extra red paper (thin stripe)
- 1 sheet of white paper
- glue
- adhesive tape
- felted pens/crayons/colored pencils
- pencil
- scissors
- 2 chopsticks/straws/wooden sticks
Fold the Fans

Fold each color paper lengthwise in a accordion-like fashion. Fold about 1,5 cm or 0.5 inch to one side, then turn the paper and fold to the other side.
Keep folding, alternating sides until you've folded the entire sheet. Fold all color sheets
Then fold each accordion lengthwise in half and glue the two folds in the center so you have a fan.
Arrange the fans next to each other so that they alternatively face open side up and down.
Apply glue to the last fold of each fan neighboring another fan and glue the fans together.
Head and Tail

Trace the head and tail of the snake on the white sheet like you see in the photo. It should be as wide as the fans or narrower.
Color the head and tail and cut both pieces out.
Fold about 1 cm/0.4 in of the straight side of the tail in (to the back side), apply glue to the back side of the fold and place it inside the last fold at one side of the fans. Do the same with the head on the other side.
Cut out the snake's tongue from the extra stripe of red paper and glue it onto the mouth.
Attach Sticks

Apply glue to one side of each stick and place one on the back side of the tail and the other on the back side of the head. After the glue has dried, secure it also with a piece of tape.
And the rainbow snake is done!
