Raised Garden Bed With an Decorative Eye Catcher

A raised garden bed is very practically for different reasons. Of course it is back-friendly, but also helps your plants to grow rapidly to a rich harvest.

Putting up a raised bed in your backyard, you may want to give it a nice look as well.

I show you how I did that.

The aim was to use only materials left from other projects. So I had little mix of materials. Anyway, to get the look seen on the pictures you should use the following:

• Front side (visible side)
• Wooden Rhombus Bar 21x68mm
• length according to what is available or desired
• Material: Larch tree (or what is available in your area)
• Back side (or less visible sides)
• Can be made of boards available, since Rhombus Bars are usually more expensive
• Board size according to desired bed size
• Top cover
• The top should be covered by boards to protect the sides
• Bracket sheets to install the boards to the sides
• Corner Posts
• I used strong 100x100mm larch wood bars. They give it solid look
• To connect the sides the corners can also be made of much smaller bars placed inside.
• Other materials
• Dimpled sheet to protect the inner sides from moisture
• Stables or nails for
• Chicken wire to keep out rodents
• Fretwork tools for the decoration element (if no cnc mill is available)
• Decoration
• For my "Garden Fairy" I used a template from etsy.com
• For little money you get printable svg data
• Fairy svg | Etsy DE
• Screws to connect bars and boards to corner posts
• Wood stain for long time protection (should be renewed each year)

• Cut all boards and bars and posts to the desired length
• Pre assemble the front and back sides as seen on the picture

• Assemble all 4 sides
• Connect to the corner posts
• Install dimpled sheet and chicken wire inside the bed

• Install the boards on the top by using sheet brackets for example
• Paint all sides and the top with wood stain
• Fill the bed with all sorts of green waste and lots of soil

The decoration element can make a real difference and turns any raised bed into an eye catcher

• Choose a decorative template e.g. from etsy.com
• Fairy svg | Etsy DE
• cut with fretwork tool
• If it is a complex shape as my "Garden Fairy" ask someone with a CNC Mill to cut it for you
• paint in a nice colour
• install to the bed

No raised garden bed looks like the other.
