Repurpose an Old Jar Into a Miniature Ecosystem
.jpeg)
Have you ever wanted a miniature slice of the forest in your room. In this Instructable I will show you step by step how to do so.
Supplies

Supplies
-Old Jar with lid
-Dirt
-Rocks
-plants (I used primarily used moss as well as some smaller flowers)
False Bottom

Start by adding a small layer of pebbles and tiny rocks on the bottom of your terrarium.
Dirt

Put the dirt into the jar and slope it up towards the back to create a sense of depth. Afterwards spray the dirt with water to moisten it.
Hardscape

For this terrarium i will use some rocks to create a path up the dirt. In this step you can really use your creativity to build whatever scene you want.
Planting

This step really brings the whole terrarium to life. It's hard to describe my process, it just takes a little time to plant and figure out what looks best. I decided to plant moss and some of the smaller plants around the path. After planting, mist the terrarium and put the lid on.
Maintenance

Maintenance for these terrariums are fairly easy, mist the terrarium every 2-3 weeks and let the terrarium air out for 5 minutes every month.
