How to cook a silverbeet pie

Silverbeet Pie

This is a beautiful pie on a warm night. Best served with potatoes.

Gather Your Ingredients:

-Silverbeet (2 bunches)

-Onion

-Garlic

-Salt

Pepper

-Puff pastry (and let if start defrosting)

-Olive oil

-Halloumi cheese

-Cheddar cheese

Cook the Filling

Wash and dry the silverbeet, removing the stalks from the leaves. Cut the stalks finely and saute with cut the onion and garlic for five minutes. Finely chop the silverbeet leaves and add to the silverbeet mixture, stirring for another two minutes.

Assembling the Pie

Grease the chosen baking dish with olive oil (so it won't stick). Then carefully border the dish with the puff pastry sheets. Layer with alternating filling and cheese, seasoning where necessary. Then top the pie with a puff pastry sheet and design as desired. Finally, brush with olive oil and place in the oven at 180 degrees celsius for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

Take the pie from the oven and cut into equal sized pieces and place on a plate. Best served with roast vegetables. If you have leftovers reheat in the oven the following day.
