Simple & Cozy Desk Lamp

Despite being quite simple to assemble this lamp looks amazing. It can be used as a desk lamp, a bedside lamp or as a task lamp. Made mostly of wood, this lamp creates a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel in a cabin in the woods.

Material that you will need:

- Some wood planks

- A vintage lamp

- A socket for the lamp

- A brown fabric electric wire

- A vintage switch

- A power plug/ socket

- Glue

- Screws

- Sanding Paper

- Wood Varnish

Tools:

- Saw / Electric Saw

- Drill

- Router or Chisels

- (Optional) Soldering iron

Using a manual or electric saw cut the wooden planks as per the layout below.

Using your router or chisels, create a groove that fits the switch. Take care not to make the groove to deep since this might crack your wooden plank.

Clean your working area thoroughly before applying the varnish. After that dissolve some light-colored wood varnish with some car fuel. And apply up to three coats to your pieces waiting at least 15 to 30 minutes between each coat. Then let the last coat rest for at least a day.

Now simply connect the 3 wooden pieces. Using screws and wood glue, stick the bottom plate to the vertical wooden piece.

Using a drill, create holes for the electric wires to pass from. After that run the wire in the holes and connect it to the switch and the power plug. You can secure your connections using a soldering iron. Finally, insert the lamp, and be careful not to break it.

Simply plug your lamp in the power socket and enjoy reading a book in this very cozy atmosphere.
