Simple Macrame Hoop Earrings
These macrame earrings are beautiful, simple, and will go with any outfit! They are very easy to make once you learn how to do the knot. You will absolutely LOVE these earrings because they are lightweight and unique!
Supplies
-100 cm of 4 strand cotton macrame cord
-gorilla fabric glue
-scissors (fabric scissors are best)
-tape
-measuring tape
-1 inch Hoop earrings
Tape Down Earring
First, tape down the earring so it won't move around while your working on it.
Cut String
Measure and cut 100cm of macrame cord.
Divide String
Divide the cord into 4 strands. *It will easily divide if you have a 4 strand macrame cord.
Tie String on Hoop
Take one strand and tie it around the front side of the hoop. Make sure the ends of the strings meet up and are even length. *You will only need one strand for each earring.
Glue String on Hoop
Dab a very small amount of glue above the knot on the hoop. Then slide the knot over the glue and pull the knot tight.
Learning the Knot
- The left string goes under the right string to make a "4" shape (photo on the left)
- Pull the original right top string under the left string (Top right photo)
- Pull the string through the hoop and through the loop (Bottom right photo)
- Pull knot tight (Last photos)
The Knot Continued
Repeat the knot until the whole hoop is covered. As you are doing this, you will need to adjust the tape so you can do the whole hoop. As you do each knot, it will automatically make a spiral. *Make sure to pull each knot as tight as you can.
Cut String
Make sure your last knot is really tight. Then cut the extra string off as close as you can without cutting the knot.
Glue String
Dab a small amount of glue on the end of the string where you cut. Let glue dry. Repeat steps 1 and 4-9 for the next earring.
