Solo Cup - Beer Pong Costume
This solo cup costume is super easy to make and is a great interactive group costume. Gather 2, 4, or 12 friends to make a full team! Grab a few ping pong balls and you have a beer pong game to go. The costume even includes a built in beer shelf.
Materials Tools
Materials:
- 4 Outdoor Trash Cans - bought mine at Ace Hardware for $24 each.
- 4 Cans White Primer Spray Paint for Plastic (I used Rust-Oleum brand)
- 4 Cans Red Spray Paint for Plastic (I used Rust-Oleum brand)
- 2 Large Trash Bags
- 1 yard heavy duty fabric (I used some left over denim)
- Black Webbing - for straps (2 yards per can)
- Hack Saw
- Staple Gun
- Scissors
Cut Trash Cans
Using a hack saw first cut the handles off each can. Then cut the bottom of the can off by laying the can on the ground.
If you have any messy edges use really low grit sand paper or a file to smooth out the edges. I tried not to be too picky.

Beer Can Shelf Straps
Using a staple gun attach beer can shelf and straps. The strap size depends on how broad your shoulders are and how much are movement you want. I would suggest testing out a few different lengths.
Cut out a rectangle of denim and staple it in the can to make a pocket. Make sure it is supported on all sides with staples so the cans don't fall out (see pictures).

White Spray Paint
Spray the tops of the cans white. Make sure to spray the inside tops of the cans as well so people thing the entire inside of the can is white. I didn't buy enough white paint to spray the whole cans white, but I would recommend doing a full white coat on each can before the red paint. This makes it easier to put the red coat on.
Let dry for a couple hours.

Masking Prep
Seal off the top rim of the trash can with a trash bad and tape. Make sure the bad is fully tucked under the rim so you don't get any weird patterns.
Red Spray Paint
Spray can with red paint. If you put a white coat on first you will only need one layer of red paint. If not, you will need to spray two coats of red paint.
Let dry over night in a well ventilated area.

GET IN THE CAN!!
Step into the can from the top. Lift the can up and put your arms through straps. You may need a friend to help (or giggle at you :D)
