Spinning Top

Project to instruct future Makerspace students to create a spinning top.

You will use TinkerCAD in order to complete this project!

  1. Go to tinkercad.com and create your account OR log in

Create New Project

2. Click the "CREATE" button and select the "3D DESIGN" to create a new workplane.

3. Select the cone and drag it onto the workplane, this will be the TOP of your spinning top. Then, set the top radius to 20, base radius to 6, height to 10, and sides to 8. Then, click the corners of your selected cone and set the sides to 35. Lastly, click the rotate button and rotate the cone 180 degrees so that the bottom of the cone is turned up.

4. Drag another cone onto the workplane, this will be the BOTTOM of your spinning top. Then, set the top radius to 1, base radius to 20, height to 9, and sides to 8. Then, click the corners of your selected cone and set the sides to 35. Next, click the rotate button and rotate the cone 180 degrees so that the bottom of the cone is turned down. Lastly, set the top of your spinning top on the bottom.

5.i The last step is to drag another cone to your workplane and set top radius to 5, base to 3, height to 25, and sides to 8. Then, rotate the cone 180 degrees and align it on to the top of the body of the spinning top.
