I built a custom patio bench using ONLY free pallets—no expensive lumber, just creativity, basic tools, and reclaimed wood! I’ll show the full DIY process: breaking down pallets, customizing the design, and turning scrap wood into a sturdy, stylish outdoor bench perfect for any patio, garden, or backyard. Supplies

  1. Take 1 free pallet for the bench base.
  2. If you need extra material for the legs, use another pallet.
  3. Assemble as shown in the steps below.

Cut Pallet in Half

Cut one of the pallet in half using a skill saw.

Back Board

Cut the backboard at a 10° angle for the backrest slope.

Attach each backboard to the support boards on the bench base using nails.

Legs

Use pieces from a second pallet to construct the legs.

Reinforce the legs with a scrap board for extra stability.

Paint

Give a good coating of outdoor paint of your choice to make the bench last longer in the elements.
