Superhero Mask Tutorial + Pattern

Originally I thought I'd do Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles masks for Halloween, but as it turns out this is a pretty good all purpose crime fighting mask. Perfect for any superhero - or even a super villain if you're into that!

This superhero mask comes with a really basic pattern - you can download it on the next step.

As a bonus, this superhero mask is made of fleece, so it'll keep your face nice and toasty AND be super comfortable.

You will need:

• fleece in whatever color you like - if it's 36+ inches wide, you can get away with 1/8 yard if you just need one mask
• scissors
• water soluble pen for marking
• pins
• PDF pattern (I've attached the PDF pattern to this step, you can download it below.)

And that's it!

You can also add an iron on stabilizer to the eyeholes of the mask if you want it to look more structured. :D

I spent quite a while working to get a good mask shape (you can see all the different versions above!), and it fits pretty much anyone I've had try it on. If you've got an adult size head, print the PDF at 100%.

However, if you're making it for younger kids, you might need to scale it down. Try taking it down to 80% at first and see how that goes. :D

Once you've figured out the size you need, print it out and transfer it to thin cardboard or cardstock to make it easier to transfer the pattern onto the fleece.

Lay the fleece out and place the mask template on top, leaving 10-14 inches on each side of it. You'll draw whatever size ties you want to each side - mine are the width of the side of the mask and 14 inches long.

I used the water soluble pen to transfer the first mask to the fleece and then used that first finished mask for tracing the rest. If you're transferring fleece to fleece, I recommend pinning since the fleece won't stay in one place like the cardstock pattern. :)
