Swallows are communal nesters. This nesting tower encourages communities of swallows to live near houses where they are helpful for insect population control. Here's how to make a 3D model of a swallow nesting tower which you could use as an idea blueprint for creating a real life version.

Supplies

Autodesk Tinkercad

Base

Time to start the model! The first thing to do is creating the base. Create a cylinder, bring the thickness down to 2, then widen the cylinder. Color it dark grey like rock.

Tower

Now it's time the make the tower. Start by creating a cylinder and then center it on the base. Then bring the height to 50.

Nesting Grounds

Now comes the hardest part the nesting grounds. Start by creating a cylinder and bringing the height to 10. Create a grey lined cylinder, turn it on its side and the bring the size and length down. Now insert it into the bigger cylinder, press the copy button and paste button. Add the grey lined cylinders on all sides of the bigger cylinder, press the cut button and the grey cylinders will disappear leaving four holes behind. Copy the big cylinder, paste it 4 times, then stack it on the tower. Create a cylinder and bring down the height to 3 and add that to the tower.

Roof

It's time to add the roof. Create a cone and make it bigger. Make it less pointy and place it on the top of the tower. Now paint the tower brown and the roof grey. Now the basic 3D model is finished! Feel free to customize it further.
