The Pyramid
In this Instructable, I’m going to show you how I built the Pyramid, a stacked audio and media workstation created from repurposed equipment in our bricolage lab. This project combines sound, display, creativity tools, and computer power into one unified structure.
Supplies
Here are all the items I used to create the Pyramid detailed documentation of materials with the picture on the right and the accrual materials on the left consistingof an audio amplifier, a monitor, a subwoofer, two mini speakers, an outlet adapter, a mini‑PC, a pair of headphones, a drawing tablet, a wireless mouse, and a webcam. Each of these items plays a specific role in the final setup, from powering the system and producing sound to giving you creative tools and computer control.
The Building Blocks
The first step began when I found two items that sparked the idea for the Pyramid: an audio amplifier and a monitor. The amplifier improves audio transfer and output, while the monitor provides a visual interface for navigation and editing. I stacked the monitor directly on top of the amplifier, forming the first tier of the Pyramid and establishing its core functions.
The Audio Upgrade
For the second step, I expanded the audio capabilities by adding more speakers. I found a subwoofer that became the base of the Pyramid, giving it deeper, tuned low‑frequency sound. On each side of the subwoofer, I placed two mini speakers to create a surround‑sound effect. This setup strengthened the Pyramid’s ability to handle music creation and playback.
The Glue
Step three focused on powering and connecting everything. To run multiple devices at once, I used an outlet adapter, which allowed me to combine all the components into a single system. I added a mini‑PC to provide enough processing power for browsing the web, downloading music, and editing audio. With this step, the Pyramid became fully functional as a digital workstation.
Accessories
In step four, I added accessories to expand the creative potential of the Pyramid. Headphones gave me a private listening option, and a drawing tablet made it possible to design logos and create digital artwork. These additions helped turn the Pyramid into a tool not just for audio, but for content creation as well.
Quality of Life
The final step was adding control and recording tools. A wireless mouse made navigating the computer easy, and a webcam added the ability to record or stream video. With these last components, the Pyramid became a complete multimedia setup.
