Thread Art { BOAT } : 🎨✨ Welcome to a World Where Digital Design Meets Traditional Craft!

In this one-of-a-kind project, you’ll explore the magic that happens when modern technology blends seamlessly with age-old artistry. Your mission? To transform a simple image of your choice into a stunning piece of thread art—a fusion of pixels and stitches, creativity and craftsmanship.
From screen to stitch, you’ll bring your vision to life by combining digital tools with hands-on techniques. Whether it's embroidery, thread painting, or mixed media, the end result will be uniquely yours.
Let your imagination flow, your hands create, and your design tell a story.
Ready to weave the digital into the tangible? Let’s begin!
Supplies

- Wooden base \ Canvas : about 25 cm
- Nails : about 70 - 100 {according to your requirement and the size of base you are using}
- Thread : I have used 100% cotton threads of size 1.5mm { in red , blue , beige & white }
- Paper : to trace the template on the base.
- Tools : to insert the nails into the base i have used screw driver instead of a hammer due to inconvenience.
- Markers and Pens : to transfer the template on the paper .
- Measuring tool : i.e. measuring scale.
- A pair of scissor
Coloring the Canvas or the Wooden Base

Color the canvas in black acrylic paint. You can also use the colorful canvas according to your desire .
Tracing the Template

Trace the template onto the paper using measurement scale.
Reminder : place the nails at the proper gap of 1cm.
Place the paper onto the canvas or the base , and start inserting the nails on the base.
Adding the Nails

It should be look like this. After inserting all the nails remove the tracing paper from the canvas.
Weaving the Threads

Start weaving the red thread on the left side of the canvas. Tie the knot on one of the nail from the bottom and start weaving it in a criss-cross pattern . After the one rotation start weaving it from top to the bottom and at the end tie a knot to secure the thread. This part of the boat is known as Mail Sail.
Weaving Process 2

Now repeat the whole process again with the white thread. From the right side of the canvas tie a knot on the bottom nail. This part of the boat is known as Jib / Genoa
Weaving Process 3

Again repeat the same process with the beige thread to create the base of the boat.
Forming the Waves

Tie a blue thread on the one nail and start creating the illusion of waves flowing . I have placed the nails for the waves in a random manner so that i can help in creating wave effect.
Conclusion

And at the end it will look like this.
I'm not sure if i was clear enough in explaining the whole process , but i think the photos i have published with it will help you. i have enjoyed the whole process a lot. I hope you all will enjoy making your own string art !
THANK YOU .
