Triangle Robot V2
Hello Everyone,
In this Instructables, I will share how to make a Triangle Robot, using a combination of recycled cardboard, skewers and 3d printed parts.
Design considerations
- Environment friendly, use of recycled cardboard / wooden skewers
- Reduce 3d printed parts and hence reduce iterations to improve model, avoid PLA wastage
- Print only parts that I could not make
- Reduce time to 3d print / build the robot
What Do We Need?
- DC Geared Motor with 2 sided arm
- 3d Printed parts
- Cardboard
- Wooden Skewer (3mm diameter)
- Super glue
- 9v Volt battery
- Wires and connectors
- Paper cutter
3D Printing
- STL Files available on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4709154
- Printed
- On Ender 3
- Resolution : 0.28
- Infill: 100%
- Time: 40 Minutes
Body
- The body is made from cardboard
- Draw 4 - 8cm equilateral triangles
- And a rectangle of 5.5cm x 8cm
- Mark and drill hole about 1cm from each corner as shown
- Superglue two triangles to the rectangle as shown
Arms
- Cut wooden skewers with 2cm as length
- We need 6 for the arm
- Superglue the skewer to the arms and leave it to dry for a couple of minutes
Assembly
- Superglue The arms to the motor joint/connector
- Make sure each is glue at 90° and aligned to the rotating arm of the motor
- Install the motor in Place
- Add two skewer axles, make sure the arms and axle make a U and not a Z
- Attach the two triangle legs
- Cut excess skewer and super glue the caps
Final Steps
- Add additional cardboard to keep the motor in place, as shown
- Connect 9V battery to the Motor, using ires and switch
- Add some hot glue at the bottom of the body and the legs for friction
- We are ready, switch one and play
