Brainstorming time: my mother's birthday is approaching and I wanted to have a nice detail for her, I think that things that are made with love are more special than something bought, I believe that a handmade gift leaves an impression and has more value, so with that in mind I decided to make something that she loves very much, some earrings.

So, with that in mind, I combined two of the things my mother likes the most: watermelon and earrings. I made a small sketch of what the final product would look like. With that in mind, I was able to move forward.

IMG_20250707_140849_957.jpg

At first I made a small triangular mold of 6 cm, but since I wanted these earrings to be extravagant, I added one centimeter to the base of the triangle and 5 mm to the height of the triangle.

-so, draw a 7cm line as a base

-then in the central part draw a perpendicular 6.5cm line.

-You will get a shape with a base and height. Connect it with the pencil and ruler.

Use the ruler and pencil to mark the shape of the triangle which will be used as a guide template.

cut the mold of the resulting triangular shape.

In the images you can see the difference between the test mold and the final version.

Watermelon slices are not perfect triangles, so to finish the mold, make a circular cut at the base of the triangle, to better resemble the shape of the watermelon.

This will be the final mold, it will be the guide to glue the threads

IMG_20250707_152024_110.jpg

Now prepare the materials to start the gluing process

Use the needle to apply the glue to the thin parts of the edges of the strings

Start with the green color which represents the watermelon rind, with the string on the guide, apply a drop of glue where the fold is supposed to go, remember that the green and white string will be glued in levels, that is, one on top of the other.

IMG_20250707_154003_004.jpg

After applying glue to make folds, apply glue evenly around the entire edge and, keeping pressure between the two parts, glue the rope.

The green rope will have three levels, in my case I glued the rope in one piece, making the folds where necessary.

a zigzag effect as you can see in the images

With the scissors cut off the excess green string.

IMG_20250707_155005_849.jpg

Now do the same with the white string, this white string represents the inner part of the watermelon rind.

IMG_20250707_155246_141.jpg
IMG_20250707_155401_336.jpg

Cut off the excess string just like with the green color

IMG_20250707_160012_177.jpg

Now continue with the pink thread, which represents the fruit pulp of the watermelon. This string will not be placed by levels, but rather radially, starting from the outside of the triangle until reaching the center.

The pink rope will twist around the edge of the triangular mold, from the outside until it fills the entire interior.

In this step, remember to place the earring hook at the top tip of the first radial of the triangular shape

You can review this video to check how to glue from the outer edge to the inside of the triangular shape.

The goal is to fill the entire triangle interior with pink rope without leaving any gaps.

Now it's time to add some additional details, that's right, the seeds.

Take the black string and pull 5mm from the tip to the inner part, apply glue to the inner edge as shown in the image.

Now cut the part, and with the scissors make diagonal cuts to give it a shape like a drop of water.

Do this process 12 times to get the seeds for each earring: 6 per earring, 3 per side.

IMG_20250707_170845_896.jpg

Now glue the six seeds onto the watermelon earring (on both sides, 3 per side)

as indicated, although you can place them any way you like.

After this, repeat all the steps to make the second earring.

This way, you'll have a striking and fashionable piece, and now all I have to do is wait for my mom's reaction on her birthday.

Thanks for checking out my project.
