Windows 10 Aero

Do you like that glassy feel of Windows Vista and 7, but want to keep your systems identity?

Well this is the mod for you. It uses a compilation of apps to achieve a glassy, transparent, customizable look. It works on Windows 10 and 11 ( I use Windows 10 because I hate the AI and bloat in windows 11). Follow the steps bellow to make your OS look like this!

Supplies

This is what you will need:

  1. A computer running Windows 10 or 11 64 bit
  2. An internet connection (If you are reading this there is a 99.99% chance you have this)
  3. Patience

Be warned that depending on your PC and glass effect settings this can slow your system down.

Get the Files

Step 1.PNG

You will need to download 3 programs to achieve this glassy look. The links are below.

https://github.com/ALTaleX531/OpenGlass/releases/tag/v2.4.3.2085-legacy

https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9pf4kz2vn4w9?

https://github.com/rounk-ctrl/TranslucentSM/releases/tag/0.6.9

Those are the 3 files. Step 1 over.

NOTE: Know that TranslucentTB includes start menu blurring, but for me that function didn't work so this is what did.

The Taskbar

TranslucentTB

The most simple step.

Simply hit download. This will download a .exe. Run that .exe to have TranslucentTB download to your PC. Once it has downloaded the files you will be prompted to enter your langue and a few other details. Then it will be running in the background when you start the PC.

Use this menu to change you settings for the taskbar. This includes blur, transparent, acrylic etc.

Start Menu

TranslucentSM

Next the start menu.

  1. Extract the files from the zipped folder you downloaded to the main :/C drive.
  2. Rename the folder "Start menu Blurring" (This isn't essential)
  3. Open the folders "Releases" folder.
  4. Inside there is a .exe and a .dill (Shown above)
  5. Hit Windows Key + R, this opens a run box.
  6. Type "shell:startup" and hit Enter.
  7. Right click "start.exe" and create a shortcut. Drag and drop this shortcut into the startup directory (shown above)

That's it.

OpenGlass

This the most complex step. Follow the steps carefully.

  1. Extract the zipped folder to the :/C drive.
  2. Name the folder "OpenGlass"
  3. Go into the folder.
  4. Open install.cmd as administrator (shown above).
  5. This will install OpenGlass on your system.
  6. Open startup.cmd as admin.
  7. Then open AeroGlassGUI.exe, this will let you adjust settings to your preferences.

That's the last program to install.

Final Improvements

The Windows 10 Aero.PNG

Change you background to something cool, preferably dark. This is the image I used: https://www.hdwallpapers.in/colorful_glow_bright_lines_wave_dark_background_abstraction_4k_hd_abstract-wallpapers.html

Then to add to the aero enable mouse pointer shadow.

Make sure transparency effects to on in the Windows settings, and use the dark theme for the best look.

Finally reboot your PC into glass glory.
