Wooden Garden Sign

We wanted to find a solution for some plants in the Özyeğin University garden because they were not being watered properly. That’s why we decided to design signs. We wrote how many times a week each plant should be watered on the signs. On the back, we drew illustrations related to these plants and wrote their scientific names to raise awareness among people.
Supplies

Wooden board, screws, varnish, oil paint, drill, glue, jigsaw, drilling machine, laser machine.

We made a sketch considering the measurements and ergonomics.

We measured the wooden boards and cut them with a saw.

We sanded the two pieces we cut using a sanding machine.

We engraved the texts we wanted to write on them using a laser.

We drilled holes on the wooden sign.

Then, to make the handle of the sign, we broke the boards we found with a hammer and cut them with a saw.

We sanded the handles we had cut using a sanding machine.

We painted all the pieces we had cut.

We varnished them to protect the paint.

After making sure they were dry, we fixed the pieces together using glue and screws.

We threaded ropes through the holes to keep track of how many times the plants had been watered.

After completing these steps, it looked like this.
