What you need:

Using your template, cut four horseshoe shapes out of the piece of wood.  Next, cut out two braces (as shown in picture) with an angle slightly less than 90 degrees. Sand thoroughly with the grain.

Assembly

Plug in your glue gun and let it heat up. During the process of assembly, do your best not to make a mess with the hot glue. Glue the braces to the leg horseshoe (as shown in pic) and then glue that horseshoe to the very bottom horseshoe. Cut a horseshoe in half and glue that half to the middle of the leg piece (as shown in main picture).  On your last horseshoe, cut a notch right at the top of the curve, so that it will fit over the backbone piece, and then glue it in place about two inches below the top of the backbone.  Finally, cut out an oval piece of wood (the hat piece) and then drill a hole in the middle of it.  Insert your scrollsaw blade through the hole in the hat piece and then reattach the blade to the scrollsaw.   Cut a rectangular slot in the hat piece (the oval piece) just big enough so that the hat can slide onto the backbone. Glue the hat in place about 3/4" below the top of the backbone.

Staining

Clean dust from your cowboy. Thoroughly stir stain and then evenly apply with your foam brush.  Finally, Cut a little handkerchief out of cloth and make him a neckerchief!  Congratulat......WAIT!!  There is more!

Cleanup

This is the most important step of all! Put away everything after you are done! If you did this before you read the step, CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is a sign of a good woodworker. Pat yourself on the back and go buy yourself some chocolate!!
