Wooden Tic Tac Toe Board

simple tic-tac-toe woodworking project

Supplies

2x4 3-1/2in length

screw and washer

Stain

clear coat

drill press

miter saw

table saw

Cut Board to Length

Cut 2/4 to equal side lengths creating a square at 3-1/2in

Create Separation Lines

Cut with table saw 1-2/16 n from the outside edge and cut on all sides.

Drill Slots for Marbles

At the center of each square drill a hole .25in deep and that has a diameter of .63in.

Drill Marble Storage Holes

Drill 2 Holes 3in deep on the end grain .75in from the either side of the board.

Router Sides of Tic Tac Toe Board

Router a clean good looking forward facing edges at 1in

Create the Door for the Marbles

Take a piece of trim and cut it down to a little less of the width of the tic tac toe board.

Pre Drill Holes for Door

Pre drill holes to connect the door to the board. Make sure the the hole on the door is larger than the screw so it can spin freely.

Stain and Clear Coat

Select stain and clearcoat of choice apply as directions on can suggest. Wait one full day or however long the coat takes to fully dry and apply a clear coat.

Attach the Door

Attach the door to the board with a screw and a nut.
